A sterling grade silver Tibetan ethnic pendant or ghau. A ghau or gau or ga’u is an amulet or prayer or relic box. This round ghau has an oval coral bezel set at its centre surrounded by embossed symbols including the golden fish or “gser-na,” one of the eight sacred Buddhist symbols, below the coral. The side is decorated with silver wire work and the back, which is also a lid that opens is embossed with the conch shell or “dun” sacred symbol. The ^top bar and bale is set with two small turquoise beads. The pendant measures 50 x 33 x 19 mm and weighs 25.2 gm.
